IEBC, Indonesia signs MoU on election management

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati has signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chairman of the General Elections Commission of the Republic of Indonesia Oldham Saputra.

Chebukati said the MoU was aimed at focusing on collaboration in areas of mutual interests in election management.

Chief Justice Martha Koome lauded the ongoing collaboration between IEBC and the Judiciary Committee on Elections in the training of Judges and Judicial Officers on Election Dispute Resolution.

Chebukati congratulated Commission CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan on his appointment and swearing into the office and said next on election preparedness programme would oversee the audit and verification of the voter register.

Marjan was sworn in on Wednesday at the Supreme Court.

The ceremony was presided over by the CJ.

Marjan said he will ensure the August 9 polls are free, fair and transparent.

"We are in the middle of preparing for the elections, the commission is committing to conducting a free and fair election," he said.
