Jubilee Party has kicked out Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi as Majority Chief Whip in the Senate.

This was after he decamped to DP William Ruto’s UDA Party.

In a statement seen by the Star on Thursday, Jubilee made the resolution that Wamatangi would no longer hold the position after having resigned from the Jubilee party.

"Wamatangi immediately ceases to hold the office of the majority chief whip in the Senate," secretary-general Jeremiah Kioni said.

"He ceases to hold any leadership position in any committee of the Senate that he currently holds by virtue of being a member of Jubilee Party."

Kioni said Wamatangi should make written representations to the party through the secretary-general by March 17 in the event that he does not agree with the party's decision.

"In the event that the party does not receive your representation on the deadline... speaker of the Senate will be notified of this record and further action," he added.

Wamatangi had earlier defended his move to Ruto's UDA party.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Thursday Morning, Wamatangi argued that UDA was the most popular party in his home county.

“I don’t have a problem with Jubilee, the people of Kiambu told me to move to UDA,” he said.

Wamatangi said he was ready for any disciplinary action against him by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I welcome disciplinary action if it comes. I am not one of the agenda. I do not behold any positions,” he said.
