Jubilee Vice  Chair David Murathe now wants Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria probed over his remarks on rigging votes for president Uhuru Kenyatta.

The MP during the UDA NDC at Kasarani on Tuesday said 'they rigged votes for Uhuru'.

The NDC endorsed deputy President William Ruto as the party's presidential nominee.

"Kuna wengine wanasema ati kura ya mlima itagawanywa; mheshimiwa Ann Waiguru, Rigathi Gachagua, Muthomi Njuki, Kimani Ichung’wa, Senator Linturi, Alice Wahome, Faith Gitau, Kimani wa Matangi…Sisi ndio tulikuwa tukishikilia Uhuru kura, na sisi ndio tulikuwa tunamuibia kura,” Kuria stated.

Loosely translates to: "Some people are saying that the Mt Kenya votes will be divided; Governor Ann Waiguru, Rigathi Gachagua, Muthomi Njuki, Kimani Ichung’wa, Senator Linturi, Alice Wahome, Faith Gitau, Kimani wa Matangi... we are the ones who protected Uhuru's votes and we are the one who rigged for him votes".

In response to the remarks, Murathe denied Uhuru rigged the polls and said the President won fair and square.

He said the Head of State did a well-choreographed campaign that saw them win the polls fairly. He added that they are not aware of vote-rigging allegations.

He urged the IEBC to summon the MP and investigate his claims the same way Murang'a Woman Rep Sabina Chege is being probed.

"Moses Kuria should go to IEBC together with the people he mentioned and explain how the rigging happened; we are not aware of any rigging that took place," he said.

He added: "If the IEBC establishes there was rigging, those are crimes which people should be prosecuted. If he has any evidence that we rigged or they rigged or that there was rigging, he should be in jail".

In the same interview, Murathe exuded confidence that the Azimio la Umoja coalition will form the next government.

The Jubilee Vice-Chair said ODM leader Raila Odinga has kept his former support bases intact and that means the votes he will get from the Mt Kenya region will serve as a top-up.

He implored the Mt Kenya region to back Raila saying they better support him for the top seat because he is the likely candidate to win.

"Raila is winning this election with or without the votes of the people of Mt. Kenya. They better decide whether he is winning it with them onboard or without them," Murathe said.

The Jubilee official dismissed the recent defection of the Mt Kenya leaders to the UDA saying they are meant for optics.

He noted that the defections are inconsequential considering many incumbent MPs hardly retain their seats in the Mt Kenya region.

Murathe, however, admitted that the move could help the DP in fuelling massive turnout but at the same time said that is not a worry for them.
