Deputy President William Ruto had a special message to the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi during his unveiling as the UDA party presidential nominee.

The DP who had ushered Mudavadi to the podium could not let him exit after finishing his speech without a word of gratitude for choosing to work with him ahead of the August 9 polls.

The visibly emotional Ruto thanked Mudavadi for choosing his side at a time when he was facing a challenging moment from forces who were against their working together.

"Wakati mambo yalikuwa magumu, huyu Mheshimiwa Hon Musalia W Mudavadi alivunja minyororo ya watesi wetu na akasema atafanya kazi na Mkenya yeyote," Ruto said.

Loosely translates to: "When things were tough, this man Mudavadi overcame all odds of those who have subjected us to suffering and chose to work with us".

He added: "I want to tell you we will pay you in equal measure one day".

The remarks by the DP came on the day he was given the mandate to seek the presidency by the UDA party.

UDA delegates converged at Kasarani Gymnasium to endorse Ruto who was vetted on Saturday and deemed fit to vie for the top seat.

The DP assured delegates and his supporters that he will do his best and bring the victory home.
