Chama Cha Kazi party has postponed its National Delegates Conference scheduled for Tuesday, March 15.

The event was called off to pave way for the UDA NDC on Tuesday at Kasarani Indoor Arena where deputy president William Ruto will be endorsed as flag bearer.

Speaking to Star, CCK party secretary General Kimani Nage confirmed the cancellation of the event.

He said the party leader Moses Kuria will give the full details to the public.

A reliable source told the Star that the postponement of CCK NDC was concluded on Monday after its officials held a meeting.

He said the postponement was to enable Moses Kuria to attend the UDA national delegates’ conference at Kasarani Stadium as an official of the Kenya Kwanza team.

He said that the officials felt that since the two parties are now working together to support Ruto, they should hold their meetings separately for everyone to attend.

The CCK party is expected to hold its NDC on Monday next week.

Among the key guests who will be invited to the NDC include the Kenya Kwanza Alliance team led by deputy president William Ruto (UDA), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) among others.

“We have so many guests who have been invited to attend our national delegates’ conference at Bomas on March 21 but our party leader Moses Kuria will give full updates to the public," Nage said.

Two weeks ago, the party in a notice said the agenda of the NDC will include reviewing, formulation, and approval of the Chama Cha Kazi policies and consideration and approval of any other party matters.

On Monday, UDA legal secretary Wakili Edward Muriu told the Star that all officials from Kenya Kwanza will attend the UDA conference.

Muriu pointed out that Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua, Mwangi Kiunjuri (TSP), William Kabogo (Tujibebe Wakenya Party) among others will attend.

“UDA delegates’ conference will bring all the leaders together including Martha Karua, Mwangi Kiunjuri, Moses Kuria and William Kabogo among others,” Muriu said.

Previously Moses Kuria had accused Ruto and his UDA team of applying dictatorial tendencies while seeking partners ahead of the August polls.

UDA had initially asked political parties that wanted to work with it to wind up and join it.

Kuria's Chama Cha Kazi and TSP led by Mwangi Kiunjuri injected the move and said they will reach the ballot.

At a rally on Saturday, Kuria publicly announced he will work with Ruto.

“I’m sure that Ruto will be our next president and I don’t stake my vote where I am not sure. This time around, be ready for Ruto’s presidency," he said.
