Machakos Township MP Victor Munyaka has said Kalonzo Musyoka does not influence Ukambani and he won't deliver votes to Azimio movement.

Speaking on Sunday in Thika Stadium during Deputy President William Ruto's rally, Munyaka said the region will rally behind the DP and the Kenya Kwanza team.

The legislator said Kalonzo's decision to join Azimio is the end of his career.

His sentiments were echoed by former Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke, who said Kenyans will decide on their own without being forced on the route to take.

He said by joining Azimio, Kalonzo is supporting all the evil things that Raila Odinga has done to the Kamba community.

“ODM through Raila has been taking advantage of the Kamba nation every electioneering period. This time, we will not allow such moves," Mueke said.

He said he has shifted his political base to Kitui and he would be vying for the governorship.

On Monday, Kalonzo told the media that the agreement they signed at KICC, Nairobi, during Raila's coronation was not smoothly done.

He said parties were hurriedly presented with two documents to sign at the KICC meeting.

"If I asked all those party secretary generals present what they affixed their signatures to, probably nobody knows," Kalonzo said.

The Wiper leader had vowed to go all the way to the ballot but shelved his ambition on Saturday after President Uhuru Kenyatta convinced him to support Raila.

“I am saying today Raila Tosha roho safi,” Kalonzo told a rally at the Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi.

He had joined Uhuru, Raila and other Azimio coalition partners who signed the pact at the Kenyatta International Convention  Centre.

Ruto has however intensified campaigns across the country. He has pitched tent in Ukambani in a bid to woo the electorate into supporting him in August.

The Deputy President is working with Johnson Muthama (UDA chairman), Adelina Mwau (Kitui deputy governor), Vincent Kawaya (Mwala MP) and Mueke.

The leaders have been instrumental in rallying the electorate to back Ruto's bid despite Kalonzo being billed as the region's kingpin.

Last year, during a visit to Ukambani, Ruto urged the electorate not to follow political parties that have no agenda for the community.

He said the region has suffered at the hands of politicians with no focus on the people and their issues.

“Do not make that mistake again. Let us walk together and form the next government,” Ruto said.

The DP said his government will prioritise job creation to ensure the youth are involved in the development of the nation.

Muthama recently attacked Kalonzo, saying he hasn’t delivered any progress in the region.

He said that the region will fully support Ruto as their suitable candidate to succeed Uhuru.
