•More personnel mobilised from neighbouring counties to boost security operations in the city
•President Kenyatta is expected to attend some of the meetings hence more mobilisation of security
Security agencies have mobilized more personnel to be deployed to various places in the city where political groupings will meet for decisions.
Officials said they had called for more troops from nearby regions to reinforce those in the city.
Jubilee Party, ODM and One Kenya Alliance plan major meetings in the city that require the attention of the security agencies.
Nairobi deputy police boss James Mugera said they are ready to offer security to all.
“We have mobilised more police officers to be deployed to the events. We have been working with the organisers for proper deployments,” he said.
He added that they expect more than 7,000 people in the city and hence the mobilisation. The agencies have been meeting at the sites to recce on same.
Jubilee Party is set to hold its National Delegates Convention (NDC) on February 25 and 26 as it seeks to put its house in order ahead of the August 9 General Election.
The meeting takes place at KICC and this may affect traffic flow.
Police say there might be disruptions at places where the meetings will take place and personnel will be on the ground to guide motorists and pedestrians.
Mugera urged for cooperation from all.
The party is set to endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga as their preferred candidate for the 2022 presidential election
The outfit plans to invite Raila and other friendly parties, including the OKA that brings together Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Kanu chairman Gideon Moi, Cyrus Jirongo of United Democratic Party and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua.
The grand plan is to have the ODM leader attend all the meetings for endorsement before the delegates and supporters troop to Nyayo Stadium – where ODM will be conducting its NDC – for a major rally.
The recently enacted Political Parties law requires political outfits planning to form a coalition party to submit their agreements to the Registrar of Political Parties by April 9.
