- Jaha House in Shela, Lamu, is where the late Tecra and Omar were staying.
- A witness said it was not in order that the bottles Tecra and Omar were using were moved to another house adjacent to Jaha.
Blood stains found at the scene where Tecra Muigai allegedly fell were cleaned up following a communication between Omar Lali and the management of the guest house, a witness said.
Officer Luke Olang’ from DCI Kilimani told Milimani magistrate Abdul Zainab the managers of Jaha House told him Omar had instructed them to clean up the house.
Jaha House in Shela, Lamu, is where the Tecra and Omar were staying.
They checked in on April 18, 2020. They were to stay there for about 10 days.
Jaha House caretaker was one Geoffrey Maliola and a man only identified as Evans was the manager.
The blood stains were on the second floor of the house. They were discovered by Maliola who reported the issue to Evans.
The officer further informed the court that bottles of Smirnoff Vodka, a bottle of wine, 300ml Fanta and Coca Cola, which the lovers were drinking on the fateful day, were also moved.
The officer said it was not in order that the bottles Tecra and Omar were using were moved to another house adjacent to Jaha.
“It did not strike you to find out why the caretaker should find it fit to move somebody’s property to another house,” senior counsel James Orengo, representing Tecra’s family, said.
“It was not normal,” the witness said.
“Did they tell you why they moved the bottles?” Orengo said.
“They said Omar had instructed them to clean the house so they decided to take the bottles to another house occupied by someone else,” the witness said.
Another witness told court that it is not probable that Tecra fell to her death from the stairs.
Shadrack Mukinda, a retired major and security advisor to the family’s company, said he was reviewing the whole incident, and it was not likely that Tecra fell as alleged.
Shadrack, who worked for the family, was tasked with finding out who Omar was. He said from what he gathered then, Omar had no bad record.
The witness, however, found it hard to answer to the court on whether the two were in love.
He said in the beginning, parents and brother of deceased did not approve of their relationship because they did not know him.
“But at the time they approached me to groom him, they accepted,” the witness said.
