Former Tourism Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie is in mourning, following the death of her father, Mzee Elkana Kokogo Kipingor.

A statement from the family said Mzee Kipingor passed away on Saturday, January 29.

Mzee Kipingor died at the age of 94.

Born in 1928 at Masua, Mumberes Baringo county, the former CS's father served in the colonial government as a police officer based at Railways Mombasa and Congo till 1954.

He then retired and ventured into business.

Mzee Kipingor also served in the Lembus Council of Elders and was instrumental in the setting up of AIC Poror Church where he served as an elder.

Mzee was blessed with 11 children, 33 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
