UDA party chairman Johnstone Muthama has denied saying his party will not form a coalition with ANC and Ford Kenya parties but instead work as friends.

In a statement on Monday evening, Muthama said he was misquoted.

"My attention has been drawn to a statement I issued today, which does not capture what I said. Some of the media houses have taken my statement out of context," he said.

The former Machakos Senator added that the coalition agreement between the Musalia Mudavadi led ANC and Moses Wetang'ula's Ford Kenya is in the offing.

"The coalition agreement between UDA, ANC and Ford Kenya although not yet concluded is in works," he said.

According to Muthama, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance is premised on three major issues including their willingness to work together adding that the agreement is in the works.

He adds that their union was also fuelled by their desire to prioritise people issues, agenda and progression on the economy, the country's debt status among others.

On fielding candidates, Muthama said the matter will be addressed when the finer details of the agreement have been worked out.

Earlier on Monday, Muthama addressed a press conference where he said the three parties are working as friends and that no coalition agreement had been sealed.

"As we are speaking now, you are being assured by none other than UDA chairman, there is no coalition agreement that has been arrived between the three coalition parties," Muthama said.

"We are friends who continue talking and engaging but when the time comes for then that issue will be dealt with at that time."

He also revealed that they will not challenge he Coalition Bill, that was vehemently opposed by its legislators at the National Assembly and the Senate, in court.
