Nyamira governor Amos Nyaribo has been considered to deputise ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi as the national deputy party leader.

In an address to journalists on Sunday, Mudavadi said the ANC party leadership is in consultation with the governor and an announcement will be made soon.

"As a way of appreciating what your governor is doing, we are in discussions to have Nyaribo as the ANC deputy party leader, who will help in moving the party agendas," Mudavadi said.

The former vice president also supported governor Amos Nyaribo re-election citing his extraordinary performance in the short period he has been in office.

"What else do we want, we want leaders who have the peoples interest at heart and leaders who will use devolution as a tool to empower their residents. I urge you to support these two men (Governor Nyaribo and his deputy James Gesami) because they have done a good job," he said.

Mudavadi was accompanied by Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja, Nyamira deputy governor Gesami, North Mugirango MP hopeful Nathaniel Mong'are among other leaders.

After a church service at Ikonge PAG church, Musalia held a meeting with local leaders before embarking on a series of rallies in the county.

He addressed a road rally at Ikonge market before addressing another gathering at Isinta market, Kebirigo market, Magombo market and Kemera market.

North Mugirango MP hopeful, Nathaniel Mong'are said the country needs a leader who can fight poverty and bring economic liberation.

"Our people should be given services and not empty words. The ANC leader will liberate this country from all forms of injustices from political to economic," Mong'are said.
