Chinese Foreign minister arrives for two-day official visit

The two ministers will hold a joint press briefing on Thursday.

Foreign Affairs CS Amb Raychelle Omamo received Chinese State Councillor and Minister for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi as he begins his two-day official visit.

The CS received Yi at the Mombasa International Airport on Wednesday evening.

During his visit, the Foreign Minister is expected to pay a courtesy call on President Uhuru Kenyatta and participate in a Ministerial Roundtable Meeting with CS Omamo, together with other CSs on Thursday.

Omamo, and Yi will thereafter hold a joint press briefing at the Baraza Conference Center at Whitesands Hotel in the morning.

His visit will give the two countries an opportunity to enhance bilateral relations by signing Agreements and further cement the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnership between Kenya and China.

The Chinese Foreign Minister is in his the four-day tour in African continent seeking to strengthen the ties between Africa and China.

 The Chinese Foreign Ministry had earlier said that the Minister’s visit to the three countries in Africa follows Chinese foreign ministers’ tradition of choosing Africa for their first overseas visit.
