The National Assembly had taken a seven-week recess on December 2 and sessions were set to resume on January 25, 2022.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has recalled Members of Parliament from recess for special house sittings from December 21.
In a notice on Thursday, Muturi said the sittings would take place in the morning and afternoon. This sessions will take place up to December 22.
“You are notified that, on a request of the Leader of the Majority Party, the Speaker has approved Special Sittings of the House to be held next week,” he said.
They are set to approve appointment of the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission and appointment of Members of the National Gender and Equality Commission.
Muturi said they will also approve the third Reading of the KIRDI Bill, 2020; Consider the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2021; Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and NHIF (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
