Robert Kimutai received a call at around 1pm and was informed about a shooting in Kabete.

A cop - Benson Imbatu - from Kabete police station had shot and killed six of people - including his wife - and injured two others.

Among the victims was Kimutai's 22-year-old brother, Paul Githinji, who was attending a funeral.

Initially, Kimutai's hope as he went to the crime scene was that his brother was among the injured and not the dead.

He called his friend, who took him to the location.

These hopes were shattered as his brother’s body was seen lying at the scene.

"What I want is for justice to prevail; this is painful," Kimutai said.

Githinji's body was by the roadside covered in a pool of blood alongside his motorbike.

He had been shot in the head by the police officer at around 1pm.

The late Paul Githinji, alias Jadu’s mother, and her family learned of his death through a Facebook post.

The post by one of his friends read, "You will never tell me not to give up again, you are no more, rest in peace."

“I did not want my mother to know about this story yet, I have personally not come to terms with it,” Kimutai said.

He described his brother as charismatic and charming.

The two brothers have been trying to make ends meet through the motorbike business.

“Up to now I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what to say, Jadu, Jadu I will forever miss you, my brother,” Robert said.

Six families lost their kin, aged 22 to 25 years in the shooting.

Jadu was ferrying his friend Wycliffe when they met their death.

Imbatu was in a white Probox; Githinji knew him well.

The cop did not say anything; he just lowered the driver’s window and shot Jadu in the head.

His friend, Wycliffe tried to escape but a bullet smashed his back and ribs.

The others killed include Imbatu's wife and neighbours.

Residents who operate near Heights Apartments, where the officer lived, rushed to the house to check what had happened.

This was after they saw a fire emanating from the house, police said.

In the process, Imbatu stepped out with his gun and shot his victims.
