The One Kenya Alliance has scheduled campaigns in Western and Rift Valley this weekend amid disquiet that has rocked the outfit.

The Star has established that the Oka bosses met with the technical team and crafted the campaign schedule.

Sources within the alliance disclosed that the meeting discussed the alleged disquiet and suspicion among member parties.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s allies had threatened to chart their own path if the partners do not announce a presidential flagbearer by December 25.

The infighting is said to have led to Mudavadi skipping last Sunday’s rally in Kajiado that was attended by other principals—Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya), Gideon Moi (Kanu) and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper).

Instead, Mudavadi attended a church service on Ngong Road where he told journalists he skipped the event because of ill health.

“It appears to have been some issues that is what we are trying to resolve before we campaign to agree on what we are supposed to do,” Wiper party national chairman Mutula Kilonzo Jr said.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala said the meeting was meant to discuss the next course of action and draw the alliance’s campaign itinerary.

“We are still urging the principals to give us a presidential candidate as soon as possible so that as we campaign, we know what we are doing,” he said.

“We need to know what we are doing. We need to market a product rather than just engaging in political rhetoric.”

According to the plan, Oka will storm Wetangula’s Bungoma backyard on Friday. All the principals are expected to attend.

On Sunday, the team will be in Kitale to drum up support for their alliance.

On Saturday, the parties are expected to hold separate campaigns. Kanu will be in Iten in Elgeyo Marakwet and later in Nakuru.

Sources said the principals resolved to escalate 2022 campaign activities even as they continued to negotiate over a presidential flagbearer.

Last Saturday, Mudavadi allies gave the principals an ultimatum to name a flagbearer or they pull out of the alliance and scout other partners to prepare the ANC boss for the country’s top seat.

Led by Malala, they said they will get Musalia a running mate from outside Oka and urge them to start campaigning and go to the ballot.

“Oka partners should not think we are prisoners in the party, that we cannot engage other people. We are looking for other partners,” Malala told the Star on Sunday.

Malala accused Moi of stoking confusion in Oka through his declaration on Saturday that the outfit is working with ODM boss Raila Odinga.

On Saturday, while speaking at a funeral in Siaya, Gideon said President Kenyatta and ODM boss Raila have made invaluable input in the Oka activities.

“We have decided to work with like-minded Kenyans, those with similar goals as ours, to better this country,” Gideon said in the context of Raila and Uhuru's political plan.
