In a police report filed by principal, Silas Mwirigi in Kiganjo Police station, three students were in the dormitory, while the rest of the students were in their classes.

"Upon being searched, the three students were found with one and half litres of Kerosene, half a litre of Turpentine and a match box."

After the discovery, police were called in to arrest the three who spent the night in police custody.

They were set to be arraigned in court on Monday.

Following their arrest, there was tension at the school as some of the students broke windows to one of the dormitories just a few minutes to midnight.

According to police, the cost of the damage has not been established.

This is the latest attempt in a series of school fires that have rocked the country since August.

The increasing arson incidents have seen the Senate summon Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha to appear before Parliament to discuss the wave of fires in schools.

Also summoned is the leadership of the school heads association.

Chavakali Boys, Moi Girls School in Marsabit and Sigalame Boys are among the schools that have been torched in the recent past.
