Kungu Ndungu appointed Kenha director general

CS said the appointment was effected on October 8.

Transport CS James Macharia has announced the appointment of Eng Kungu Ndungu as director general of the Kenya National Highways Authority.

In a statement, the CS said the appointment was effected on October 8.

He said the appointment follows a competitive recruitment process that was carried out by the authority’s board.

“Until his appointment, Eng. Kungu Ndungu was the Director, Road Assets and Corridor Management at Kenha,” Macharia said.

The CS added that Ndungu is well versed in various aspects of road engineering and road sector management in the country.

“He has been responsible for large road development projects and maintenance and further demonstrated to the Board his knowledge and the qualities of leadership and management which covered prudent financial, human resource management, and governance.”

Ndungu takes over from Peter Mundinia whose tenure came to an end after serving two terms of three years each.

He took over from Linus Tonui on August 28, 2015, and was later reappointed on August 28, 2018, for another term.

Since August this year, acting DG Eng David Muchilwa has been in charge of the authority.
