Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru was on Thursday questioned by the Anti-graft agency over a Sh52 million pending bill in her county.
Waiguru had received summonses to appear before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over the claims.
She had earlier claimed the move to probe the issue was political.
However, detectives said they were investigating genuine concerns of an alleged pending payment of Sh52 million allocated by the county assembly for a pending bill that was acquired in 2010, for subdivision, allocation and cadastral mapping of over 7,000 acres of South Ngariama Settlement Scheme.
This was the reason she was summoned by detectives last month and after she failed to appear, she was served with compelling summonses.
She arrived at the commission offices accompanied by her lawyer and was later joined by Lugari MP Ayub Savula, who declared his party ANC is courting her.
EACC officials said they are aware that the allocation to the scheme has not been paid, but still searched her office for information and summoned her.

Waiguru said, “It is intimidation and a witch hunt but we are focused. They are asking why the Executive discussed the matter.”
She made the statement after spending more than two hours with the detectives.
Officials at the commission also revealed they had sent a probe file on her to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with a recommendation to charge her.
This is in connection with an alleged Sh10.6 million irregular travel allowance paid to her.
The officials want her be charged with abuse of office and gross misconduct, as well as gross violation of the Constitution.
Waiguru had last year been questioned by the commission officers over the alleged misappropriation of imprests by her office.
Kirinyaga MCAs had accused the governor of awarding herself Sh10.63 million in imprests as travel allowances for foreign trips she never made.
During her failed impeachment, MCAs claimed the county chief was irregularly paid travel allowances amounting to Sh10.6 million “yet she did not make the trips”.
Waiguru said she was only grilled over the Sh10.63 million imprests and not the tendering process at the county.
“I was called here on the issue of imprests. I am happy the truth is finally going to come out. You can make all manner of allegations but you must provide the evidence,” she said then.
EACC said they had confirmed she didn’t travel as she alleged.
The governor said the MCAs were part of some of the trips accused her of pocketing imprests for.
