Raila welcomes defectors to ODM as 2022 race hots up

He said the party is rejuvenating and all Kenyans are welcome to join.

East, West, North or South, returning home is always the best, ODM leader Raila Odinga has said.

The former Prime Minister’s remarks came as he received defectors from other parties who have joined ODM.

He said the party is rejuvenating and all Kenyans are welcome to join.

“We are happy to welcome defectors and returning party members back home to ODM. The ODM movement is steadily reloading day after day and all Kenyans from all walks of life are welcome at our table,” Raila said.

The new defectors, some of whom were members of ODM were received at Chungwa House.

Last Friday, Raila also received another batch of defectors from the counties of Narok, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Marsabit, and Mandera.

He promised to work to strengthen the party across all the 47 counties, ahead of the 2022 polls.

Political players have been aligning themselves as the country approaches the next General Election and the former Prime Minister has been making inroads into the Mt Kenya region as he plans to popularise ODM.

He has been making trips and meeting leaders from the region with a view of working together, as he seeks to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila has also met political and business leaders from other regions, including the Northeastern region.

On September 2, more than 40 leaders announced the formation of a grassroots political movement to galvanise the region behind the handshake partners - Uhuru and Raila.
