Deputy President William Ruto has said he has no time to respond to his opponents who are bent on issues to do with positions, power and supremacy battles on who has security or not.
The DP said he is very busy planning his bottom-up economic blue-print and looking for partners who will help him improve the livelihoods of Kenyans.
Speaking during the burial of Nominated Senator, Victor Prengei in Marioshoni in Njoro sub-county of Nakuru, Ruto said he has no time to argue with his disparagers.
Ruto was accompanied by more than 20 MPs allied to Tanga Tanga political wing.
Also present were Nakuru Governor, Lee Kinyanjui, his deputy Erick Korir and Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.
“I will have no time to respond to you who are engaging on issues to do with position, power and security detail because I am busy doing very important work, planning how to improve the economy,” he said in apparent response to the recent move by the government to downsize his security.
He added that he was looking for a party that would help him and his supporters push the economic liberation agenda.
He said that before politicians discuss their positions as leaders, they should first have a plan on how to create jobs for millions of young people.
He said leaders should also concentrate on empowering ordinary businesses and farmers so that they can lift them and ensure that they have the necessary support to produce and do well.
“Ahead of discussing the security of us leaders, we must discuss the safety and well being of the public because that is the only way every Kenyan will feel that they have not been left behind,” he said.
On the stalled multi-billion-shilling Itare Dam, Ruto said the project suffered politically instigated challenges which he was willing to help solve and ensure water supply for Nakuru residents.
“All the other pending development projects that had been promised will be delivered because Reggae had been stopped," he said.
During the tension-laden burial, most speakers among them outspoken Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, and his Nakuru counterpart, Susan Kihika, talked about the changes in DP Ruto’s security detail.
The speakers accused the government of frustrating Ruto and vowed to mobilise private security for him while others sought divine intervention in the matter.
Prengei died on the late evening of August 16 after being involved in a road accident at Gioto along the Nakuru-Kabarak road.
Plans to ferry his body to his rural home in Marioshoni on Friday awaiting the burial today, were stopped by the local administrators because it was said to be contrary to COVID-19 prevention protocols.
On Saturday, there were plans to stop the burial convoy at Marioshoni Trading Centre and open the casket for the residents to view and pay their last respect to the first Ogiek MP but that was stopped.
There was tension after a contingent of General Service Unit officers were deployed to keep vigil at the ceremony.
