The One Kenya Alliance is scheduled for a parliamentary group meeting on Tuesday morning after all Opposition affiliates resolved to quit Nasa.

The meeting at Serena Hotel brings together OKA principals and legislators from Kanu, Amani National Congress, Ford Kenya and Wiper.

Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, a close ally of Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang'ula, said they are to have “an official dissolution and send-off of Nasa”.

“We will be performing burial rites for Nasa. We want to give it a decent send-off,” he told the Star.

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui (Wiper) also confirmed the meeting is to be held at the Serena Hotel on Tuesday.

Mbui, however, said he was not sure of the agenda but guessed it would be to chart the way forward for the formation.

He said the meeting was called by OKA principals Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya) and Gideon Moi (Kanu).

“The agenda is known by the principals because they are the ones who called the meeting, and the technical team, of which I am not a member. There is nothing new because we have all decided to leave Nasa,” he said.

Mbui added that they will be writing to the Registrar of Political Parties to pull out of Nasa but they are in no hurry to do so.

Nominated MP Nasri Sahal (Ford Kenya) said she was aware of the meeting but had yet to be informed of the date and venue.

“We were to have this meeting but it was postponed to another date. I am still waiting for communication from the organisers,” she said.

Sahal further said she had yet to be informed about the agenda of the Tuesday meeting.

Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka (ANC) also confirmed that there would be an OKA parliamentary group meeting in Nairobi.

He, however, did not give much detail but said the legislators would be discussing ways of strengthening the alliance ahead of 2022.

Last month, Mudavadi ruled out the possibility of reviving Nasa ahead of 2022.

Mudavadi coined the Nasa name ahead of the 2017 presidential election. The coalition was launched on January 11, 2017.

Mudavadi said he was instead focused on building a new coalition and advised former alliance co-leaders Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo and Wetang'ula to "forget about Nasa" in their pursuit of the country’s leadership.

Mudavadi formed Nasa after Raila, Musyoka and Wetang'ula exited the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy, an alliance they used to mount the 2013 presidential campaign.

The coalition was created to oppose President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto in the 2017 election.

Of all the principals, only Mudavadi did not run for elected office. He instead ran the Nasa National Campaign Committee. Raila and Kalonzo ran for president and deputy president, Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula for Bungoma senator and Isaac Ruto for Bomet governor.
