A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest against a Briton accused of insulting his ex-wife by calling her a prostitute and threatening to kill her.

Ismael Ossoble, 42, failed to turn up in court to plead to the charges on Tuesday leading to the arrest warrant by senior resident magistrate Caroline Muthoni.

According to the charge sheet, Ossoble on June 15, in an apartment in Westlands along Mpaka road, without lawful excuse uttered words, "I will kill this lady (Ilham Gasser) prostitute mother of my kids".

The accused is out on a police cash bail of Sh15,000.

The court ordered the police bond to be forfeited to the state.

Gasser an employee at United Nations headquarters filed a police report on June 19.

She alleges she was receiving calls from unknown numbers which upon picking she realised it was her ex -husband, who was threatening to kill her.

The suspect continued to issue threats until she decided to report the case. 

Ismael told police he came to Kenya on May 19 from Turkey to collect his son from his ex-wife following an agreement. The couple divorced in July 25, 2019.

Since then, he has been communicating with his sons through the mother, until she blocked him after arriving in Kenya.

He told the police he had been forced to use strange numbers to communicate with his sons.

The case will be mentioned on August 10.
