Justice Daniel Musinga will take an oath of office and assume his office today as the President of the Court of Appeal.
Musinga was elected on May 24 by the Appeal judges to replace Justice William Ouko who was is the judge of the Supreme Court.
Musinga was appointed as the chairman of the Judiciary Committee on Elections (JCE) in January this year, a position that he took over from the High Court judge Msagha Mbogholi.
President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Ouko as a Judge of the Supreme Court after the Judicial Service Commission nominated him in a successful competitive exercise.
Ouko replaced Justice Jackton Ojwang who retired in February last year.
in May, Chief Justice Martha Koome also took the oath of office, replacing David Maraga.
During the ceremony, Koome received two reports on the state of the Judiciary and the flag of the Supreme Court.
Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi reminded Koome that she is inheriting an institution that is grossly underfunded.
Amadi, however, noted that some progress has been made with the Executive in relation to funding, acknowledging the presence of house speakers at the event of the assumption of office of the CJ.
Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu took to the stand and thanked God for giving her chance to serve as acting CJ for 162 days.
