The family of the late KDF soldier Daniel Omolo Onyango is yet to receive the autopsy report, a week after his controversial death.

The 37-year-old private based at Gilgil 44 Rangers, died in a fight with his wife on the night of April 3.

On Sunday, his distraught mother Angelina Omolo told the Star that she was yet to be told what killed her son.

Angelina,55,  described her second born son as a polite and loving child. He was born in a family of five children.

"I am yet to come to terms with his untimely demise.  All I want is to know what killed him and why he had to die this way so that I can find closure," she said.

She spoke to the Star on phone while  traveling  to Nairobi ahead of the burial of the soldier at their rural home in Ugunja,  Siaya county.

"Let them conduct a thorough investigation so that we know what exactly  led to his death and how. There should be no foul play in this so that my son can get justice," she said.

His sister Sarah Omolo 28, remembered his elder brother as a humble and a caring person.

"He was the breadwinner in the family. We will dearly miss his company," she said. According to the family, Onyango will be buried on April 17.

The burial committee in Ugunja will be meeting the sub-county security intelligence committee on Monday.

According to the area assistant chief George Oduor, the Monday meeting will discuss  details of  the burial in line with Covid-19 protocols.

The officer reportedly died in his house at Kahawa Wendani in Kiambu's Ruiru sub-county after the wife bit his thumb, chest and shoulder.

The couple reportedly had an argument that night  before the wife, Violet Asale, bit her husband. On realising he had developed convulsions, Violet rushed him to Kahawa Garrison health centre, but it was too late to save him.

She was arrested and is still in custody as a  murder suspect.

Neighbours at the Makiwanga area of Kahawa Wendani said the deceased was last seen looking distressed and some late night commotion and screaming was heard from their house.

The reason for the argument is yet to be established. Asale is an upcoming local secular artiste whose stage name is Zian Achama.

She is said to have rented a one-bedroom house in Mirema drive  for her music business, a decision that appears to have angered her husband.

According to the couple’s neighbours, the two started arguing about 1am, moments before they heard Asale screaming from the bedroom.

"We did not understand what they were arguing about but they have lately been having issues," neighbours said.

Shortly after the screams died down, neighbours said, the officer’s sister and aunt came out calling for help.

Preliminary investigation established that the deceased was furious about the one-bedroom house that his wife had rented and was demanding to know who pays the rent and who the other tenants are.

Detectives said the deceased’s relatives forced their way into the couple’s bedroom and found him lying still on the floor.

His mother on Sunday  said the family plans to move the body from Forces memorial mortuary on April 16 before ferrying it for burial at his Nyabede- Nyasanda village home in Siaya county.
