Deputy President William Ruto has sent well wishes to ODM leader Raila Odinga after he tested positive for Covid-19.

In a tweet on Thursday night, the DP said,

In a statement on Thursday, Raila said he feels strong despite the Covid results.

Raila had checked into Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday for a series of tests after complaining of fatigue when he returned from a grueling five-day tour of the Coast region where he had drummed up support for the Building Bridges Initiative.

"While the tests were several, one important result, which I have authorised the doctors to make public is that I have been found to have been exposed to Covid-19," the former Prime Minister said.

Raila's doctor, Dr David Oluoch-Olunya, said the ODM leader is responding well to treatment. 

"We are continuing to monitor his progress," he said.

Raila will be in mandatory quarantine for the next 14 days.
