ICU admissions hit 69 as 633 more test positive for virus

Total number of recoveries stand at 87,550 with 1,874 fatalities.

Kenya on Saturday reported 108,362 cases of Coronavirus after 633 more people tested positive.

Health Ministry said the new cases were from a sample size of 5,193 that was tested in 24 hours.

A statement by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said cumulative tests conducted so far stand at 1,327,999 since the first case was reported on March 10, 2020.

From the new cases, 554 are Kenyans while 79 are foreigners with 384 being males and 249 females.

The youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 85 with Nairobi county leading with 430 cases followed by Kiambu County with 58 cases, Nakuru 44, Kajiado 19, Migori 17, Uasin Gishu 14, Mombasa and Makueni with 7 cases each.

Trans Nzoia has 5 cases, Kisumu 4, Kilifi 3, Kakamega 3, Makueni 3, Bungoma 2, Kitui 2, Narok 2 and Nyandarua 2 cases.

Nyeri, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Turkana, Homa By, Laikipia, Lamu, Meru, Murang'a, Kericho and Kisii counties each has one case.

Unfortunately, one patient succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,874.

"Today 374 patients have recovered from the disease, 328 from the Home Based Care and Isolation Care while 46 from various health facilities," Kagwe said.

This brings the total number of recoveries to 87,550.

"A total of 483 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities across the country while 1,389 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care," he said.

Kagwe said 69 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 26 of whom are on ventilatory support and 33 on supplemental oxygen while 10 are under observation.

"Another 18 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen all of whom are in the general wards," the CS said.
