Poachers fined Sh100,000 or six months in jail

Six suspects have have been charged with poaching and dealing in wildlife meat contrary to the law.

Elena Ndila Malende, Margaret Mukonyo, Ruth Kyalo Kioko, John Mwanzia, Prescott Nzau and Dennis Mangoli were arraigned before Kangundo Law Courts senior principal magistrate Desderious Orimba on Friday.

The accused were arrested at Ngalalya area in Matungulu subcounty on January 27. They were found in possession of game meat.

All the six accused pleaded guilty to the charges and were fine Sh100,000 each.

Orimba ordered that each of the convicts pay the fine or be jailed for six months.
