One arrested in Nairobi for impersonation, conning a woman Sh8 million

Serious Crime sleuths from DCI based within Westlands, Nairobi arrested a 32-year-old man who has been posing as a Sudanese national and personating a Sudanese Army General

Arafat Ikimu, alias Rashid Koweh Bin Omar has been targeting unsuspecting high ranking females within the country, luring them into non-existent deals before defrauding them millions of shillings.

The recent case involves a female director who lost Sh8 million to the suspect.

The suspect was arrested on Friday evening and is in police custody pending arraignment.

Arafat is facing charges of Personation and Obtaining by False Pretenses.

In June, a man who claimed he was an officer at different police stations has been charged with impersonation and obtaining money by false pretences.

Stanley Maina, alias Francis Kang'ethe, was charged with five counts of obtaining money by false pretences. 

Maina had been posing as an investigating officer in various police stations before the arrest.

One of his victims, Jesca Indeche, reported a bank fraud case at Buruburu police station on January 17.
