Kilimani murder suspects to be detained for 12 more days

The incident happened on Friday night in a posh Nairobi apartment

Police were on Tuesday allowed to continue holding two murder suspects for  12 more days as investigations continue.

Businessman Chris Obure and Robert Ouko will be detained at Kilimani police station for allegedly killing Kevin Omwenga in his Galana Suites apartment last week.

Kibera principal magistrate Derrick Kuto concurred with the prosecution that the police needed more time to conduct proper investigations on the "loss of the precious life"

"The family of the deceased deserve to know what happened. I hereby direct the respondents to be detained for 12 days at the police station," Kuto said.

Prosecutor Allan Mogere told the court that preliminary investigations showed that Omwenga, 28, was shot in his bedroom with a firearm belonging to Obure. 

The case will be mentioned on September 4.
