A total of 72 health workers have contracted Covid-19, Health CAS Rashid Aman has said.
Aman on Tuesday said by the nature of their work, the health workers being front liners stand a higher risk of contracting the disease.
He said out of the 72 health workers who are infected, 19 of them are admitted in various health facilities across the country.
"I must however note that despite the infection, this has not undermined their commitment to duty," he said.
Last week, authorities said 28 health workers had tested positive for the coronavirus in Mombasa.
They included two laboratory technicians who tested positive last week as the fight against Covid-19 in the coastal region shifted focus to front-line workers.
Aman in his remarks said stigmatisation of patients is now a matter of concern as it is undermining treatment efforts.
Aman said such stigma turns people against each other.
"Stigma towards positives should not be tolerated because it is a threat to anyone. Just like in HIV/Aids and Ebola, it undermines treatment efforts," he said.
Aman said this is a time for all Kenyans to care and hold each other's hand.
So far Kenya has reported 2,989 cases after 127 more tested positive in the last 24 hours.
Twenty-four other patients were discharged, rsising the number of recoveries to 873.
Unfortunately three more patients succumbed, raising the fatalities to 88.
On a positive note, Aman said the ministry has not recorded any case of re-infection from the 873 who have been discharged.
"As far as I know, we release them after full recovery and we know they are progressing well since we have not recorded any reinfection," he said.
