a Lobby group has written an inquiry letter to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua over the alleged misuse of Sh89million in Marumba Dam project.

The project was overseen by Waki Clearing and Forwarding agents Limited that was funded by the Danish International Development Agency.

Network Action Against Corruption through their Secretary General Maxwell Agutu wants the county government to come out clear over the matter.

“The the irregular payment on the legitimate commercial transaction on more than Sh139,000,000 unjustified colossal amounts illegally paid out in a well-choreographed scheme by Machakos County Government collusion with private individuals and institution," Agutu said in the letter.

"Why were the county development coordination committee's due diligence and advice ignored and why withdrawals were conducted without due process of the huge sums of monies withdrawn in cash and transported to the governor’s office through the chief of staff?”

The lobby has also questioned the time frame of the work taken before the payment was made to Waki Clearing and Forwarding Agents.

NACC also questioned the scope of work, the report presented and why the minutes of the report adoption was never captured.

Also questioned was why the public funds' management and practices were never followed and why IFMIS process for accountability was never committed.

The letter further urged for speedy investigations.
