Wabukala eulogises Moi as God-loving uniting figure

Kenyans will remember Mzee Moi for his guiding Nyayo Philosophy of Peace, Love and Unity

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission chairman Eliud Wabukala has sent his condolences to the family of the late and former President Daniel Moi.

"The EACC commissioners, the Secretariat's Executive Management and all Staff join H.E. President of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta and the entire republic in mourning the passing on of H.E. Former President Moi," Wabukala said in a statement on Wednesday.

He added, "On my behalf and that of my family, the entire Commission and Secretariat, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to his children, relatives and friends who are grieving the death of their patriarch."

Wabukala also stated that Kenyans will remember Mzee Moi for his guiding Nyayo Philosophy of peace, love and unity, in his endeavour to unite all Kenyans.

"We also dearly remember his love for God and his love of education for our nation's children. May the Almighty God comfort his family and may his soul rest in eternal peace. Amen," he concluded.

Moi died on Tuesday at the Nairobi Hospital.

He died at the age of 95, although his press secretary Lee Njiru said he was about 102 or 103.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Tuesday, Njiru said Moi told him not to go by what was in his ID.

"Let me clarify that Mzee Moi was not 96 years old. He was about 102 or 103 years. He started walking using a walking stick. Then a wheelchair. I have seen a steady decline in his health since then," Njiru said.
