BBI: CS Wamalwa calls for tolerance

He said the Mombasa meeting gives an opportunity for dialogue among Kenyans particularly on issues affecting the Coast region.

Devolution Cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa has called for a peaceful Building the Bridges Initiative meeting tomorrow in Mombasa county.

Wamalwa said the meeting gives an opportunity for dialogue among Kenyans particularly on issues affecting the Coast region.

He said BBI changes will bring solutions to problems bedeviling the country. He spoke on Friday at Shirikisho area in Tana Delta subcounty during relief food distribution in Tana River county

The CS  said all citizens regardless of where they are in the country must be involved for them to approve the constitutional amendments that that are being debated.

He said it does not matter which part of the country one is from, religion or party as all are Kenyans and have a right to be involved in constitutional matters.

"I, therefore, urge all leaders who will be in Mombasa tomorrow, please let us sit together as one family called Kenya," he said.

Wamalwa called for tolerance among leaders and open dialogue since they can disagree without being  disagreeable on each other

"The Coast region will be hosting the whole country so that everyone gets an opportunity to air their views. All the six counties of the region under Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani through their governors are already in Mombasa finalising the BBI programme for tomorrow," he said.

He added that BBI will help address issues that affect all the 47 million Kenyans and support all the 47 counties.

Wamalwa said BBI will enhance devolution as it will double the funds that will be allocated to the counties, which will increase funding for youth, women, and people living with a disability.
