Two die in an accident involving two lorries and motorbike near Maseno

Two people died in a grisly road accident that involved two Canters and a motorcycle at

Car Wash near Maseno University.

Three other people sustained serious injuries in the Tuesday afternoon crash.

The accident caused a traffic snarl up

as the police removed the wreckage on the busy Kisumu-Busia Highway.

Witnesses said one of the tankers was heading to Kisumu when the driver lost control and knocked a boda boda rider who was heading the same direction.

The tanker also rammed into another tanker that was transporting cement.

Another witness Mark Otieno said one of the tanker

drivers might have had a problem with the brakes.

Other residents said the road is sloppy with no bumps.

"We want KeNHA to erect speed bumps on the road to avoid similar incidences.

Kisumu West police boss Mechack Kiptum said they are investigating the matter to establish the cause of the accident.

He

the information the police have received is that two vehicles had collided head-on.

The injured were taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital. The bodies of the deceased were also taken to the hospital's mortuary.

The two vehicles and the motorcycle were towed to Maseno police station.
