Kirinyaga county is ready to host the sixth devolution conference between March 3 to 8, Governor Anne Waiguru has said.
Waiguru said her administration is working with the local hospitality industry to provide above standard accommodation to the 6,000 expected guests.
The annual conference will be held at Kirinyaga university grounds in Kutus.
''We have brought on board even small hotel operators so they can serve our guests, we have also improved the infrastructure,'' Waiguru said.
The Governor spoke on Wednesday at Gitwe Primary where she donated 700 shoes to pupils as part of her campaigns pledge.
The county boss said her government is committed to improving development in all sectors even after the conference.
"Our guests will enjoy their time here in Kirinyaga during their visit and they will surely come back later because our county is a well-known tourist region that guests will want to explore'' she said.
Waiguru also said she will roll out modernisation of ECDE classes in all schools to set a foundation for the growth of kids as they move from early childhood to primary school.

The governor further dismissed claims that there is bad blood between her and MCAs.
There has been a deadlock between the assembly members and the executive after Waiguru slashed bursary allocation from Sh70 million as approved by the MCAs to Sh 20 million.
Waiguru has maintained her government will not succumb to pressure from MCAs.
She has maintained that only the needy will benefit from the bursary kitty.
The county has 20 wards.
