The proposal to arm security guards has sharply divided opinion.

This follows last Tuesday's terror attack at DusitD2 hotel on Riverside Drive.

The latest group to weigh into the matter are youths associated with Amani National Congress party.

In their statement on Tuesday, they said many

security guards do not use metal detectors properly and adding them shotguns could end up being a disaster.

Instead, they suggested that the government make use of youths who complete NYS training.

The ANC youths also urged security firms to improve training for their workers.

"Arming security guards will increase cases of insecurity in the country," Cason Synovia, the chairman of Ideal Boda Boda Riders Association, said.
