Man, 24, charged with stealing a cock worth Sh600 in Lugari

A 24 year old man who stole a cock from a home in Lugari constituency has been charged with robbery and violence in an Eldoret court.

The cock was valued at Sh600 and the court ordered that the man can be released on a bond of Sh500,000 for the offense of robbery with violence.

Silas Etyang was charged together others not before court, with robbing Nora Liseche of her cock January 10 this year at Maragusi village in Lugari subcounty.

"It's not true your honour because I did not steal", said Etyang when the charges were read to him.

Police say that Etyang and his accomplices used excessive force and critically injured Liseche.

She sustained serious injuries during the attack at her house.

Lugari constituency has been witnessing high level of crime and police suspect that the accused is alleged to be a member of a gang of young men who have been terrorizing residents of Lugari area.

Etyang was detained at the Eldoret GK Prison until when he will pay the bond before being released.

Police say he was found with the cockerel which will be presented in court as evidence.

The case will be heard on January 28.

Police in Lugari are still hunting for the rest if the suspects.
