Police retrieve body suspected to be of missing nurse

Police officers in Matuu arrested three persons in connection with the death.

Police in Yatta subcounty have retrieved a body suspected to be of missing nurse Paul Nzioka who worked at Kisiiki Dispensary until November 26.

The body was found near Kibaa bridge along Kithimani – Mwala road on Thursday morning.

The DCI Matuu have moved the body to Yatta funeral home pending postmortem.

Yatta subcounty police commander Joseph Karanja said they have informed the family members to come help identify the badly damaged body.

On Tuesday, police officers in Matuu arrested three persons in connection with nurse's death.

A Machakos court on Wednesday allowed police to continue holding Franklin Mbithi, Bernard Maore and Samson Kataka. 

The three are Kisiiki dispensary clinical officer, Ikombe nurse and a Matuu-based businessman respectively.

Nzoka is believed to have been strangled and dumped in Athi River. High water levels hampered search efforts.

 

Meanwhile, police are also searching for bodies of a mother and child who fell in Thika River last night.

The woman's husband who managed to escape had carried them both on his motorbike.

The man said he applied emergency breaks when he saw a huge log on the road when they slid and fell into the river in Kithyoko village, Mavoloni sub-location in Yatta subcounty.
