The Mombasa Law Society has asked the public to remain calm and stop speculating about the cause of Sammy Anyanzwa death.
Anyanzwa died on Wednesday morning after falling from the government's building under unclear circumstances.
It had earlier been alleged that a Mombasa-based lawyer had committed suicide after he threw himself from the 10th floor of a government building.
The society's chairman said the matter is still being probed by the police and that they are also waiting for the outcome.
"In the meantime, I urge members to desist from speculation as we unearth the truth. We also need to respect the family and avoid statements that may hurt the family," the chairman said.
He also said that it is unfortunate that some people have spread photos of their fallen colleague on social media platforms.
Anyanzwa's body was taken to Pandya mortuary and his lawyers will be involved in the burial arrangements.
The chairman added that the public will be informed as more updates develop.
The 69-year-old of Anyazwa and Co-company Advocates is said to have gone to conduct some transactions at the Land's office located on the eighth floor.
