•Waluke and Nandalwe, however traded blame with each accusing the other of provoking and planning the violence.
Several people were injured after supporters of Sirisia MP John Waluke and those of his rival Moses Nandalwe clashed at a funeral in Lwandanyi, within the constituency.
Trouble started when Waluke arrived in the middle of funeral service with supporters in tow.
The Nandalwe supporters tried to stop them from joining the funeral.
Several people were injured and hospitalised with panga cuts at the Sirisia hospital.
The funeral mass of late Robert Wanyera, a former county council chairman, was cut short as residents scampered for safety.
Speaking after the fracas, Fr Protus Wosianju condemned the politicians for disrespecting the dead and the church and always fighting in funerals.
“This is a very archaic and backward way of political contest, if that is the case we will not be allowing politicians in our funeral masses,”said Wosianju.
Waluke and Nandalwe, however traded blame with each accusing the other of provoking and planning the violence.
“I am aware that Nandalwe and area MCA Tonny Barasa had planned this violence for several days, I can't be cowed or stopped from traversing my bedroom,” said Waluke.
Speaking separately, Nandalwe blamed Waluke for the violence, saying Waluke had mastered the art of using violence among his opponents.
“I respect Waluke as my member parliament but if he wants that kind of politics we are ready, gone are the days he used to bully people around,” said Nandalwe.
Area MCA Tony Barasa also blamed Waluke for disrespecting other leaders saying he should work with other leaders to achieve development.
