A Kitui MCA who on Wednesday withdrew a notice of a private motion to impeach Lands and Infrastructure executive Jacob Kakundi has said he is not yet done with the latter.

Kyome MCAs Alex Wambua said that he withdrew the notice of the motion to impeach Kakundi on a technicality. It was omitted from the schedule of the Kitui County Assembly business.

He will re-introduce it next week. “I consulted with the speaker's office, the legal office and the house business committee and owing to the issue of strict timelines within which to dispense with the motion I tactfully withdrew it,” Wambua said on Friday.

He will re-introduce the motion by Wednesday next week. He says he has collected a "sizeable" number of signatures from fellow MCAs in support of returning the impeachment motion to the assembly.

A week ago, the MCA had filed a notice of motion to impeach Kakundi who he accuses of not performing his duties satisfactorily and ethically. He further accuses the executive of disregarding a resolution of the county assembly.

When he sought to withdraw the notice of motion, Speaker George Ndotto put the request to vote and the majority of MCAs, by acclamation, granted Wambua leave to withdraw it.

But Wambua promised to revisit the impeachment motion.
