ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has said Huduma number should not be politicised.

Launching the exercise in Kajiado county on Tuesday, Mudavadi said huduma namba will help deal with graft.

He said Huduma namba will reveal the exact number of locals who need relief food when there is drought.

“When it comes to drought, if we are not sure of the number of the people who need help, we will end up allocating a small amount of food to the affected people and take a large amount to other areas. Huduma namba will solve this,” Mudavadi said.

He added governments need data on its citizens to help with planning.

In Makueni, Governor Kivutha Kibwana said the Council of Governors will support the Huduma Namba project.

“Huduma namba is very important. It is what is used in the developed countries," he said.

Kibwana said the initiative will make citizens' lives easy.

“It takes long for women to get birth certificates; it is tedious and laborious. It (Huduma namba) should be accepted. As Council of Governors, we will support this together with the national government. As the COG chief whip, I will whip my colleagues to support the initiative,” he said.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu said NIIMS is important.
