Kakamega Senator Cleophas  Malala on Saturday said Deputy President William Ruto will not win over Luhya votes despite the many visits.

Accusing Ruto of recklessly dishing out what he termed as 'cursed money’, Malala said Ruto’s mission to the region is to confuse the Luhya community.

"Let Ruto and his ‘tangatanga’ team know that he will not get Luhya votes and he will not be president of this country", he said.

Malala said Kenyans should not accept to have Ruto succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.

He claimed that the DP's links to graft cartels in the country had made him unfit to be president.

"The other day he even told us that nothing much was stolen in the dams scandal because it was just Sh7 billion. That shows we have hyenas in this country but not leaders", Malala said.

DP Ruto is this weekend in Kakamega where he is expected to launch a few development projects as he inspects the progress on previous ones.

He is expected to commission a project in Hamisi constituency in Vihiga county today before heading to Lurambi in Kakamega tomorrow.

In Kakamega, Ruto has been invited to launch a new programme by the One Acre Fund, which has been supporting group farming in Western region

The Senator was speaking at Ikolomani Kakamega County during a memorial service for Derrick Kivia Lugwa who died in the Ethiopian Airline plane crash.

Malala urged ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi to befriend ODM leader and African Union Special Envoy for Infrastructure Raila Odinga if he wants to be president.

"Raila is the best person who has fought for this country and can lead this country well but his time in politics is running out and they only other person who can take over is Mudavadi", he said.

According to Malala, ANC leadership should stop abusing Raila and instead seek his blessings to enable Mudavadi be president.
