The political rift in Mt Kenya continued to widen with fresh claims that some MPs are working with the opposition to kill Jubilee Party.

Yesterday, 29 Mt Kenya MPs allied Deputy President William Ruto accused Nasa leader Raila Odinga of using their colleagues to divide President Uhuru Kenyatta's party.

The legislators, who spoke at Parliament Buildings, said they will not allow the rebels to divert Jubilee from realising its promises to the people.

Buuri MP Mugambi Riondikiri said some leaders in Jubilee are being used to sow seeds of discord in the party.

"Former ODM advisers who are now in Jubilee should not accept to be used by their external masters who are known agents of deceit, discord and division. They thrive in politics of chaos and confusion," Riondikiri said.

“We are saying this fully aware that it is the intention of our political detractors to sow division in our party and eventually kill the Jubilee dream. ”

The lawmakers accused Raila of hiding behind the truce with Uhuru to not only rock Jubilee but also to divide the country with the sole aim of stopping DP Ruto’s 2022 presidency.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah said since the March 9, 2018, handshake between Uhuru and Raila, development has slowed down.

He said Jubilee leaders will not sit and watch an attack on the President and  Deputy President who were elected on a single ticket.

He said the Jubilee rebels are free to sell Raila’s 2022 presidential bid without attacking DP Ruto.

“Any affront on the Presidency whether on Uhuru Kenyatta or William Ruto is an affront on all of us in Jubilee and we shall jealously guard one of our own,”  said the Kikuyu lawmaker.

Riondikiri said, "We witnessed a lot of development during Uhuru's first term. Jubilee should be wary of any agents that want to slow down the President's development agenda and Jubilee's pledges and contract it entered with the people."

Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara said: "While we support the handshake, our partners should stop misusing it for their own selfish political agenda. We cannot claim to be uniting the country while we are segregating other leaders."
