Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has been been appointed Food and Safety ambassador for three years.

Passaris will, according to appointing authority Fresh Produce Consortium of Kenya, champion safer food in the domestic market and local eateries.

She will participate in the development and implementation of food standards for fresh produce. She will encourage people to eat healthy, nutritious, clean, green and ethically produced products.

FPC Kenya is a consortium of producers, traders and service providers for the fresh horticultural industry.

There has been an increase of food contamination cases, some blamed on pesticide residues, heavy metals and microbial substances.
