An MP and residents of Turkana want Governor Josphat Nanok to sack non-performing executives over their poor handling of the hunger ravaging the county.

Turkana South MP James Lomenen said Nanok should send the officials packing instead of reshuffling them.

Lomenen said while some executives should be commended for working tirelessly to help hunger victims, those who have failed in their dockets should be kicked out.

"The intervention by the county and national governments to supply relief food and water to the families stricken by hunger is welcome. However, we are disturbed  by county officials who are not working," he said.

Lodwar resident James Eregea said some county executives do not deserve their positions and should make way for people who want to work.

He said the National Drought Management Authority released an alert of possible drought in Turkana but county officials failed to plan in good time.

"We need immediate services from county officials who are supposed to access the affected areas and come up with a report that reflects what is happening in the region. Officials who sit in their offices should be sacked. It's time to work to ensure no Turkana dies of hunger again, " Eregea said.

Another Lodwar resident Peris Lochodo wants the governor to sack executives who handled the hunger crisis poorly. He said they failed to plan well so that the number of people affected is large.

In the changes made, the Nanok moved Esther Lokwee from Lands, Energy, Housing and Urban Areas Management to the Ministry of Public Service, Administration and Disaster Management.

Charles Ewoi Lokiyoto was moved from Public Service, Administration and Disaster Management to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Natural Resources.

Jennifer Nawoi from Tourism, Culture and Natural Resources to the Ministry of Trade, Gender and Youth Services.

Antony Apalia from Trade, Gender and Youth Services to the Ministry of Lands, Energy, Housing and Urban Areas Management.

Nanok said the changes are necessary to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in  service delivery to the people of Turkana.
