Raila Junior Odinga has supported calls by Siaya Senator James Orengo on the proposed impeachment of Deputy President William Ruto.

Orengo vowed on Sunday to institute an impeachment motion against Ruto.

The Senate Minority Leader said a Deputy President can be kicked out of office if it’s found that he or she has violated the Constitution or any other law.

Through Twitter on Tuesday, Junior who is the son to ODM party leader Raila Odinga said there was nothing wrong with Orengo wanting to impeach the DP.

"Senior Counsel James Orengo is within his right to bring a motion of no confidence just like any other Kenyan can do," he said.

"It doesn't necessarily have to be a position of his party ODM."

Orengo reminded Ruto that the Constitution allows the President to appoint a new deputy president after his removal, with the approval of the National Assembly.

Migori Senator Ochillo Ayacko seconded Orengo’s move to impeach the DP.

He quoted the Constitution that “any person who obstructs justice commits a crime and is liable to be jailed."
