ANC kicks out nominated MP Osotsi

ANC has expelled nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi.

The party further summoned nominated Senator Petronila Were before its disciplinary committee to shed more light on allegations levelled against her.

Osotsi and Lokorio were facing disciplinary action for refusing to toe the party line.

“National Executive Council received and considered the resolution of the disciplinary committee of the party that state; the two members faced charges of wrongful conduct arising from their respective tenures as ANC party secretary general and ANC party executive officers respectively,” secretary general Barrack Muluka said in a statement.

“Having exhaustively deliberated over the matters before it, the Disciplinary Committee has decided as follows; Godfrey Atsieno Osotsi is hereby expelled forthwith from the membership of ANC. Petronila Were is hereby summoned within 14 days to appear before the disciplinary committee and offer clarification to her response to allegations facing her.”

Osotsi stands expelled from ANC. He is no longer a member of this party and ceases to enjoy privileges attendant to being a member of the party, or to act on behalf of the party in any way whatsoever

He said the party Executive Council considered all the disciplinary committee's resolutions and upheld them. Were is expected to appear before the committee on March 29.

The communication had already been made to Osotsi and to the clerk of the Registrar of Political Parties, it said.

“The Registrar of Political Parties has been advised to strike the name of Osotsi from ANC party registers,” the statement said.

“The Clerk of the National Assembly has been apprised of these developments."

The party wants him to commence "the requisite statutory procedures and actions in regards to his status as a nominated MP".
