Incoming US Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter now says he is ready to execute his mandate.
Carter was among six envoys who on Tuesday met with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House before presenting their credentials.
The other envoys were from Botswana, Chile, Ethiopia, Korea and Iceland.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta today received Letters of Credence from incoming Ambassadors and High Commissioner, from six countries. The Envoys, both resident and nonresident, presented their credentials to the President at State House, Nairobi,” read a tweet by State House.
Carter said he was happy and ready to work.
“Just presented credentials to his Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta. Officially in place and ready to work side by side. Tutafanya kazi pamoja,” he said.
McCarter said he will do everything within his power to help prevent Kenya from being used as a terrorist gateway by enhancing the two countries’ strategic alliance to defeat terrorist threats.
“National security is extremely important to both our countries. As Ambassador, I will use my experience to help advance the many development programmes and policy initiatives in our long-standing US-Kenya partnership towards self-reliance,” the US envoy added.
Carter now officially takes over from Robert Godec who served for more than six years.

Uhuru in January bid farewell to Godec commending him for strengthening relations between Kenya and USA.
Godec applauded Uhuru’s leadership, saying it has moved the country to a higher level in social and economic development.
During Godec’s tenure, Kenya and the US witnessed expanded relations across all sectors of cooperation including health, food security and transport key among them being the launch of direct flights between Nairobi and New York.
