Kitui governor Charity Ngilu yesterday warned health staff against laziness.

She said she will not allow services to be compromised. Residents can only benefit from devolution through quality care, she said.

“I’ve worked hard in the past one year to ensure real reforms in the health sector. The health of our people remains a key commitment under my leadership,” Ngilu said at the Kitui Level 4 Hospital.

She met with health partners, including the National Hospital Insurance Fund. They deliberated on ways of improving healthcare service. Ngilu said health workers must be ethical and professional. The hospital now boasts of improvements in water supply, patient handling, more staff and equipment availability, she said. Ngilu urged the staff to maintain factual and dependable records.
